Wellness Services

Pet Services

•   A complete, thorough physical exam is the starting point for all medical care.  This allows us to either confirm that your pet is healthy or diagnose any conditions that need attention.  As the doctor examines your pet, she will discuss her findings with you and answer any questions you may have.

•   Vaccinations allow us to protect your pet and your family from many serious diseases.  However, our practice does not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to this aspect of patient care.  Our doctors will take your pet’s individual health and lifestyle into account in determining a vaccination protocol that is tailored for your pet.

•   Another key aspect of keeping your pet healthy is preventing internal & external parasite infestations in your pet.  As part of your pet’s wellness visit, we may screen your pet for intestinal worms, heartworms, fleas, ticks, etc.  There are many excellent products on the market to prevent and control these pests.  Your doctor will guide you on which products are best suited for your pet.

Pet Radiology

Our hospital offers in-house radiology (x-rays) for your pet to diagnose a wide range of conditions. The addition of digital radiography in January of 2014 has been a tremendous benefit to our practice.  This technology allows us to produce superior quality radiographs while minimizing patient stress.  When necessary, these digital images can be easily transmitted to specialists for consultation or referral.

Pet Surgery

Prior to surgery, your pet will be thoroughly examined, and the results of any pre-anesthetic testing will be reviewed by your pet’s doctor. Our doctors use the most current anesthetics, surgical methods, and pain medications to provide your pet the safest, most comfortable surgical experience possible. Anesthetic monitors track patient parameters (heart rate, oxygen levels, respirations, blood pressure, etc.) to add an additional level of safety for your pet.  Patient warming systems keep our patients’ body temperature stable during anesthesia & recovery.

Pet Dentistry

Part of keeping your pet healthy is keeping his mouth healthy. As dental tartar accumulates on your pet’s teeth, the bacteria that reside there can spread to your pet’s gums (causing gingivitis) or even other organs (kidneys, heart, lungs) causing serious health problems. Our doctors will recommend a regimen of home care (brushing, water, additives, and/or treats) and regular dental cleanings (under anesthesia in our hospital) to keep your pet in peak condition.

Laboratory Services

In-House Laboratory

Our in-house laboratory allows us to run blood tests quickly when we need answers right away. In addition to this testing, we can run fecal tests, urinalysis, skin scrapings, and cytologies in the clinic. Rapid, highly accurate in-hospital tests allow us to screen your pet for heartworms, tick-born diseases, feline leukemia, FIV, and other illnesses while you wait.

Outside Laboratory

For patients whose medical conditions are less urgent, our doctors will often utilize our network of outside diagnostic laboratories to provide comprehensive wellness screening at a reasonable cost. In addition, these laboratories allow us to perform advanced testing as needed.

Therapeutic Laser

Also known as photobiomodulation, laser therapy is the harnessing of specific wavelengths of light in order to create therapeutic effects. It has been shown to increase circulation within injured tissue, decrease swelling, speed up healing

time, and reduce pain. The technology has been used in Europe since the 1970s,

but it wasn’t until 2002 when the FDA cleared it for use in the United States. Since then, it has become a popular treatment in both human and veterinary medicine.

Laser therapy for pets is a painless treatment, requiring no sedation and minimal to no restraint. Each session takes just minutes, based on the condition and the size of the area being treated. With each treatment, circulation increases, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area and removing waste products. This process optimizes the conditions for faster healing of damaged tissues.

Laser therapy has been shown to help with wound healing (surgical incisions and traumatic wounds), arthritis, back and neck pain, and many other painful conditions.
